I
grew up in the East New York and Brownsville parts
of Brooklyn, New York where I realized I had a
passion for the arts. As a young child, my grandmother
who lived next door, would take me with her to church
where I spent countless hours replicating imagery
displayed inside the pages of my bible. It was
indeed a spiritual experience for me: I zoned out
for the entire duration of the sermon. Sundays
was my favorite day out of the week since it meant
I would have a good 4 hours to draw.
My first real job was as a Data Coordinator for
a clothing company in the Fashion District of N.Y.C.,
where I kept track of the big orders that came in,
logged and printed them using SQL scripts. It sounds
exciting doesn't it? Actually it was-SQL is what
led me to my current career path, Multimedia and
Web Design. I found I enjoyed the challenge entailed
in scripting and decided to combine art and science
by earning a B.F.A. in Digital Arts and
Design (Magna Cum Laude) from C.W. Post and an A.A.S.
in Computer Information Systems from S.U.N.Y at
Farmingdale.
Before entering my current career path, I
owned and operated The Ultimate Bagel Cafe in
Port Jefferson, New York. But after four years of
operation, I found I was not being fulfilled as
it left no time for me to produce any form of
art. I closed down the operation and off to school
I went.
The experience was extremely challenging, being
I worked fulltime hours while simultaneously enrolled
as a fulltime student; it was also the most rewarding
experience I've had so far. During that period I
learned I am a person who has
what it takes to create compelling art, web, print,
and video projects, regardless
if I know a particular technology or not. I always
found ways in overcoming hindrances by taking crash
courses in areas I was lacking in: I
always got the job done.
Now I live in Connecticut where I am lucky enough to have space that I use for work, e-learning, yoga, painting, drawing and entertaining my new neighbors with my amplified guitar. |
